Invented by the Kampfe Brothers
King Camp Gillette is best known, incorrectly, as the inventor of the safety razor. (See Encyclopedia Britanica for an example.) The first safety razor was in fact invented in 1880's by the Kampfe Brothers. To the right is one of the Star razors produced by the Kampfe Brothers around 1903. As can be seen from markings on the razor itself and it's box, the razor had already won awards and patents long before Gillette.
